The ocean plastic statistics are staggering.
- The average American throws out 185 lbs. of plastic per year. 35 billion plastic water bottles are thrown out every year in the United States.
- Plastic chemicals can be absorbed by the body. 93% of Americans age six or older test positive for BPA (a plastic chemical).
- One million sea birds and 100,000 marine mammals are killed annually from ingesting plastic or becoming entangled in it.
